Protecting God's Temple Through Healthy Living

"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" I Corinthians 6:19

My Vision for ultimate physical and spiritual health:

To create that connection between your physical well-being and your spiritual well-being, with physical activity and how it coincides with God's word.

My mission is to educate and inspire people about healthy living. We must first acknowledge the connection between health and spirituality. Our bodies are God's temple and we must make an investment on protecting God's property. The goal is to feel empowered to take charge of your health.

Know the facts: Not knowing is not an excuse anymore! “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” Hosea 4:6

Obesity Statistics: NHANES (1998-2000), CDC/NCHS

  • 65% of US Adults are overweight
  • 31% of US Adults are obese
  • 77% of Black women, 72% of Mexican-American women are overweight
  • 50% of Black women, 40% of Mexican-American women are obese
  • Obesity is the second leading cause of preventable death in the US

African Americans are at high risk for many serious and often fatal diseases. These include high blood pressure, stroke, and cancer. African Americans are also more likely to suffer serious health problems and die from these diseases. Many of these and other disease will not just infect someone without a cause. There are guidelines and principles that we must follow in order to live a healthy and prosperous life. God wants all his children to live healthy and fruitful lives and in order to receive His blessings we must be obedient to God's laws. There are blessings for our obedience in Deuteronomy 28; "If you fully obey the Lord..."

High blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity are just a few diseases that could be prevented. Chronic illnesses and degenerative diseases all have a root cause. Certain foods (deeply fried meats, and vegetables saturated with salt and butter, ect.) which are highly consumed in African American homes trigger these diseases.

Whatever or whoever we allow to be a tenant in our temple will consume our temple. We must be aware of the foods, substances, and beverages that we consume and think of how they will affect us in the future. If we continue to consume junk on a regular basis then our body will reflect junk. These foods, consumed in high quantities, will have a negative effect to our health.

It is our responsibility to be a positive reflection of God, for He wants to dwell in all of us.

What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people." - II Corinthians 6:16
